This is the torch from the year 2000, the year that the Olympics were held in Sydney!!!

The Olympic flame represents the positive values that man has always associated with fire such as Ritual, Light, warmth, Cooking, Protection and Creation. Purity of the flame is always guaranteed by the way it is lit using the sun's rays. It was first used in Berlin 1936!!!

Week 2 Modern Olympics

Pierre de Courbertin found the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in 1894 in Paris. the new Committee then decided to start the first Olympic games of the modern times.

The date of the first Olympic games was in 1896 and to 2008 it has successfully lasted for now over one century!!
